A Writer’s Prayer: Philippians 3:13-14

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13–14

Lord,

It’s so easy to get distracted when I’m constantly bombarded with all the “how-to’s” of the writing world. I can have the greatest author platform, be represented by the world’s best agent, perfect the art of the query, and publish book after book, but it will do me little good in the measure of eternity if I forget my first calling: To follow You.

Redirect my thoughts and my priorities today even as I work at the craft you have given me. Remind me of my purpose so that all I do reflects the One I’ve chosen to serve.

Signed,

Your little butterfly chaser
